Process + Approach
Our design process is foremost client driven. We encourage my clients to be active in the design on their homes - the process should be collaborative in nature. We will listen to your thoughts, your priorities, and your dreams and together we will work to design a meaningful space for you.

Our approach is centered around creating a home that is a reflection of you and your family, tailored to your specific property as well as your budget. We are dedicated to assisting our clients get the best possible home for their investment. This is accomplished through proper, prior, planning - considering the life-cycle cost of owning and maintaining your home, being honest about the materials used, and honing the design to respond properly to your unique site conditions.
The following is an rough outline of the steps you can expect to take together to ensure your home is successful.

01 - Pre Design
This initial step is where we will define your Scope, Budget, Schedule, Values, Code-related Limitations, and Existing Site Elements. You can expect to fill out our client questionnaire, meet on site to discuss your project, and have conversations about what you are looking to get out of your project.

02 - Schematic Design
Serving as the first design phase, here I will use the information gathered in Pre Design to come up with a few design concepts for us to discuss. These are usually presented in a sketch-based medium and will clearly state intentions of how the design responds to the Pre Design information and your site. The closeout of this phase is a budget-alignment check and a client sign-off to move forward.

03 - Design Development
This phase is where we will add detail and information to the project. Choosing Materials, Finishes, Systems, and Details for example as well beginning any conversations with Contractors. These conversations are where most of the project information gets flushed out. Drawings and renderings are at a finer detail compared to the last phase. The completion of this phase includes a complete packet of materials, finishes, and systems; a more refined schedule of values and schedule; a client sign-off to move forward.

04 - Construction Documentation
Here we will be focused on detailing and documenting all the information that we worked through in the previous phase. We will also be working through the necessary drawings and details that your contractor will require to build your home. This stage is critical in ensuring the final home meets all of your expectations.

05 - Construction Administration
The final step begins when the project either goes out to bid or the pre-selected contractor begins construction. Our role is to assist in the bidding and negotiating process through the entire duration of construction. We will perform regularly scheduled site visits to ensure the design intent is being followed by the contractor. In addition to responding to questions, RFI's, we will inspect the project for the approval of any contractor pay applications, ensuring the work being paid for is complete and to your standard.
